Established in Detroit, now Byron Bay.
Vernor Pots in the name my kids gave to my ceramics studio, an old gas station on Vernor Highway in Southwest Detroit.

I am a ceramicist, painter and cook.

Central to all my work is a connection to the wild, sacred energy of aliveness. Rooted in place, deeply connected to nature, my work places emphasis on the joy and magic of living.

Vernor Pots is the studio and creative workspace of Jessica Hicks. It is a place to explore and celebrate the beauty in the everyday. The intimate daily rituals that shape us. 

Jess has a background in food, having spent over a decade running two businesses, Astro Coffee and Ochre Bakery, with her husband in Detroit, Michigan. Food and cooking are still an integral part of her daily creative practice along with ceramics and painting.

In 2025, after almost 2 decades in Detroit, Jess returned to Australia with her family. She now resides in Byron Bay.
